2014 SCEA ESP Recognition Dinner at Skyview on November 20th
NJEA’s Vice President, Marie Blistan, brought greetings from President Wendell Steinhauser and Secretary-Treasurer Sean Spiller. Bob Antonelli, NJEA Staff Contact to the NJEA ESP Committee spoke about how Educational Support Professionals (ESPs) provide essential services that ensure a safe, clean, efficient, and caring environment for the students who attend New Jersey’s great public schools. NJEA has a proud, historical record of achievement in promoting, protecting and organizing the careers and interests of educational support professionals. From the local to the national level, NJEA has led the way in organizing over 53,000 ESP members, negotiating contract improvements and achieving legislation in all areas of terms and conditions of employment.
2014 NEA Representative Assembly in Denver July 3-6
More than 500 delegates from New Jersey joined nearly 9,000 NEA colleagues from across the nation. Here are our representatives! Among the highlights of the RA was the election of a new team of NEA officers, as well as two new members of the Executive Committee. New Jersey once again led the way in Political Action Committee fundraising, with delegates contributing more to the NEA Fund for Children and Education than any other delegation.
2014 NJEA Jack Bertolino Summer Leadership Conference
The 2014 NJEA Jack Bertolino Summer Leadership Conference offered a broad menu of 35 training seminars that equip members to become stronger association advocates. Most seminars offer nine hours of training in a three-day period spread over six sessions. A longer seminar providing 18 hours of training over four days is available for newer presidents. This year’s summer leadership conference will took place at the Hilton East Brunswick.
2014 SCEA Twenty-Five Years of Service Dinner
A dinner celebrating and recognizing members who have dedicated 25 years of service in education was held on May 15, 2014 at Perona Farms. Stacy Yanko, SCEA President, and honorees are pictured.
2014 Dream Project Donations
Sussex County educators traveled to Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic to transport monetary donations, school supplies and sports equipment to the DREAM Project. Donations were collected from members of the Sussex County Education Association, active and retired. The Dominican Republic Education and Mentoring (DREAM) Project is a 501(c)3, nonprofit organization, that provides quality education for all children born into poverty in rural areas and small communities of the Dominican Republic.
